Summary:

This article explains time away in Schild.

Overview

Time away refers to any period away from work. Schild supports three types of time away: absences, leaves, and vacations. Personnel can request each type of time away in "Time away" in their profiles.

Absences

An absence is a short-notice and unplanned time away, not to exceed one day, such as:

  • Medical appointments
  • Personal emergencies
  • Same-day call outs

Leaves

A leave is an absence longer than one day, such as:

  • Sick leave (illness, medical recovery)
  • Personal leave (non-medical personal matters)
  • Bereavement leave
  • Jury duty
  • Parental leave
  • Administrative leave

Vacations

A vacation is time off.

Viewing

Administrators can view time away records in "Absences", "Leaves", and "Vacations" in administration. Users can view their time away records in "Time away" in their profiles.

Submitting

Personnel can submit requests by navigating to "Time away" in their profiles.

Approving requests

Absences are automatically approved, while leaves and vacations require explicit approval. You can find leave and vacation requests in "Leave requests" and "Vacation requests" in administration.

Approval of time away automatically marks all overlapping assignments as declined with the reason 'Time away' and notifies administration immediately.
