Overview
Time away refers to any period away from work. Schild supports three types of time away: absences, leaves, and vacations. Personnel can request each type of time away in "Time away" in their profiles.
Absences
An absence is a short-notice and unplanned time away, not to exceed one day, such as:
- Medical appointments
- Personal emergencies
- Same-day call outs
Leaves
A leave is an absence longer than one day, such as:
- Sick leave (illness, medical recovery)
- Personal leave (non-medical personal matters)
- Bereavement leave
- Jury duty
- Parental leave
- Administrative leave
Vacations
A vacation is time off.
Viewing
Administrators can view time away records in "Absences", "Leaves", and "Vacations" in administration. Users can view their time away records in "Time away" in their profiles.
Submitting
Personnel can submit requests by navigating to "Time away" in their profiles.
Approving requests
Absences are automatically approved, while leaves and vacations require explicit approval. You can find leave and vacation requests in "Leave requests" and "Vacation requests" in administration.
Approval of time away automatically marks all overlapping assignments as declined with the reason 'Time away' and notifies administration immediately.
